Think globally, vote locally - for positive change, right where you live
There's a lot of cynicism on the street about government. Many people don't vote. They think it won't make a difference. I used to think that way too. Oh, I voted, but didn't think it would make a difference. I've come to believe that local elections are very important -- because local government can create change right where we live.
Please get engaged this next term and be sure to get out and vote in 2022. Learn about the issues an vote for the candidates you believe in. You only need to vote for the people you really want to see elected. Even if it's only one or two. Your vote will still be counted.

The next General Local Election will be held
October 15th 2022 Mayor, Council and School Board will all be elected. Who Can Vote?
Many people think you have to be a property owner to vote. Not true -- renters in North Cowichan are eligible to vote as long as they are 18 or older and Canadian citizens. You don't need to be registered ahead of time. You can vote at any polling station, no matter where in the Municipality you live. If you're not already registered, just bring two documents that provide evidence of your identity and address (at least one must have your signature), and you can vote. Acceptable documents include: B.C. Driver’s Licence, B.C. Care Card, Social Insurance Card, Credit card, Bank debit card, Passport, Telephone, electric, gas or cable bill, and Property Tax notice. |
